A programmer from the Samara region once was already convicted, but he managed to escape.






In Krasnodar, a resident of the Samara region, who is a member of the international hacker community and participated in cyber attacks on the information infrastructure of state authorities of the Krasnodar Territory, was convicted. On Wednesday, March 11, the Interfax news agency was informed by the press service of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation in the region.

The investigation established that, as a programmer, Sergey Materov created, distributed and used malware. This fact is qualified under Part 2 of Art. 273 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“The creation, use and distribution of malicious computer programs by a group of persons by prior conspiracy or by an organized group or a person using their official position, as well as causing major damage or committed out of mercenary interest”).

In 2017, the district court of Krasnodar Prikubansky already endured a sentence Materova, choosing for it the penalty of imprisonment in a penal colony for a term of one year and three months. However, after the verdict was announced, the accused disappeared and was put on the federal wanted list.

Again Materov managed to detain in Krasnodar. At the time of detention, the man was working on a new malware. On this fact, the investigative department of the FSB of Russia in the Krasnodar Territory initiated and investigated a new criminal case under part 1 of Art. 273 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Creation, distribution or use of computer programs or other computer information known to be intended for unauthorized destruction, blocking, modification, copying of computer information or the neutralization of computer information protection means”).


As a result, the Prikubansky District Court of Krasnodar sentenced Materov to 3 years and 8 months of imprisonment in a penal colony.
