The company allows you to make the iPhone invulnerable with individual security features.

Former employees of the NSA and Apple founded a startup DoubleYou, which offers a new approach to protecting Apple devices.

Patrick Wardle, a former NSA employee and macOS security researcher, and Mikhail Sosonkin, a researcher and former Apple employee, decided to create a company that specializes in modular security tools for macOS and iPhone.

Since 2015, Wardle has been developing free and open-source macOS security tools under the auspices of his Objective-See Foundation. Its co-founder, Mikhail Sosonkin, was also involved in cybersecurity research for many years before joining Apple from 2019 to 2021.

The startup aims to strengthen the protection of products for Apple, given that Macs and iPhones are becoming increasingly popular among companies around the world and, as a result, attract the attention of cybercriminals. Wardle and Sosonkin note that despite the growing interest in Apple products, there are still not enough high-quality solutions to protect these devices.

DoubleYou offers the development of customized security components that can then be integrated into other companies ' products, allowing you to create more flexible and adaptable solutions without having to develop full-fledged products from scratch.

For example, the proposed modules include analysis of new processes to block untrusted code, monitoring DNS network traffic to detect malware, and tools to detect attempts to gain access to the webcam and microphone.

The founders compare their approach to providing auto parts instead of producing whole cars. This strategy allows you to use existing technologies to create effective defense mechanisms.

Wardle and Sosonkin plan to preserve the independence of their startup by refusing to attract external investment. This approach will help you avoid the risks associated with rapid scaling and allow you to focus on developing technologies.
"We may be idealistic, but we just want to catch malware. We hope that this will also help us earn money, " says Sosonkin, describing the company's mission.
